Configure validation on the selected field
Use Required for essential answers. Set minimum/maximum length for text, or numeric bounds for numeric answers. Configure only checks appropriate to the field type. Supply an error message that explains how to correct the value.
For email and URL inputs, select the corresponding input preset. Use a regex when a business identifier has a defined format; test both accepted and rejected examples, including empty input when the field is optional.
Add an input mask
The mask tokens are:
| Token | Accepted character |
|---|---|
# |
Digit |
A |
Letter |
U |
Uppercase letter |
* |
Letter or digit |
For example, ###-##-#### describes a numeric identifier with separators. A mask guides typing; help text should still explain the expected answer. Check the live input while empty, partially filled, pasted into, cleared and edited in the middle.
Validation is part of the submit contract
Browser guidance improves usability, while server validation protects stored submissions. Test the public page with invalid data and verify that errors remain associated with the correct field. Visibility rules should not leave a required hidden field blocking the visitor.
Do not put secrets in hidden or read-only inputs. Use member access and permissions for access control.
