AI setup, prompts & review

Generate forms with clear requirements and verified schema knowledge.

Configure a provider

Open MegaForm Settings → AI Settings as an administrator. Enable the assistant, choose a supported provider or compatible endpoint, enter the server-side API key and select a model available to your account. Use Test, then save.

Provider availability, models and prices change. Choose from your provider's current account offerings; these instructions do not require one particular model. Requests use the configured provider and may incur charges on that account.

Create and refine

See Create a form with AI for the full English prompt and a GIF of generation, review and saving on Umbraco.

Use Create with AI from the dashboard or AI Designer in the builder. Describe the purpose, fields, constraints and behaviour explicitly:

Create a workshop booking form with name, email, workshop and seats. Seats must be 1–8. Show dietary notes only for the catering workshop. Use a two-column desktop layout that stacks on mobile. Do not configure external services yet.

Review the staged changes in the canvas before applying and publishing them.

Keep smaller models on a clear path

Ask for one bounded change at a time. Use exact existing field keys and state the expected result. For database tasks, require schema inspection first: table names, keys and types must come from the connected schema, not a plausible guess.

After AI changes rules, calculators, widgets or workflow mappings, test the relevant branches and submitted result. Generated code still needs administrator review and approval; a prompt must not bypass script permissions or secret handling.

For existing Umbraco Forms, import the draft first, then ask AI to adapt the verified definition. Use the gallery when a reusable design already fits.
