Form builder & settings

The canvas, field properties and focused form settings.

Find your way around

The builder has a field palette, a form canvas, a toolbar and a settings rail. The palette separates Basic, Layout and Widgets. Click a tile to add it, or drag it to a position in the canvas.

Select a field to open Field Properties. Open Form Settings for settings that belong to the whole form:

Area Configure
General Login requirement, multi-step behaviour, header and save/continue options
Appearance Corners, borders, typography, colours and spacing
After submit Confirmation, redirect, respondent email and follow-up actions
Data & storage Database mappings, files and external data sources
Integrations Connections and configured external services
C# scripting Administrator-approved server logic and guided samples

Save and preview

Save the form before configuring features that need a persisted form ID. Use Preview to check the visitor experience. Device controls help assess layouts, but also test the actual published Umbraco page because the theme and available width differ from the canvas.

Form changes and C# scripts have separate save controls. Use Save script when approving script changes, then save other form edits normally.

Before publishing, check validation, logic and the after-submit experience.
