Reuse existing forms and records
When Umbraco Forms is installed in the same site, MegaForm can preview an import and use existing records. Start with a small test form; custom field types and workflows need a deliberate review.
- Open MegaForm → Dashboard → More → Import Umbraco Forms.
- Select the source form and preview its fields, validation, conditions and workflows.
- Decide whether to copy existing submissions.
- Decide whether new MegaForm submissions should also be written to Umbraco Forms.
- Import as a draft. Check the converted form before publishing it.
Choose how records should behave
| Mode | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Copy existing submissions | Create a MegaForm copy for migration or an archive |
| Read the current source | Browse live Umbraco Forms records as an external source |
| Write new entries to both | Keep a configured operational integration during transition |
These modes have different ownership and permission implications. A live external source is not a copied MegaForm table. Check the selected source in Entries before interpreting counts or available actions.
Verify the import
Review required fields, choice values, multi-page navigation, uploads, conditional logic and workflow outcomes. Compare a few historical records and submit a fresh test entry. Confirm which system owns the resulting attachment and which users can retrieve it.
After importing, AI Designer can help adapt the draft. It does not remove the need to review mappings or unsupported custom behaviour.
